Does not mean that it did not break

Very true. I failed to mention in my original post that, last time using it, I had a few issues with pellets getting stuck in the throat… that’s what made me think that perhaps the main spring seal is suspect.

I had a seal fail, the pellet gun I got when I was a kid. The pellets would leave the barrel but not go through a single sheet or cardboard.

I've taken my old one apart a number of times, not difficult. Maybe get hold of the place in Peterboro, AGS, they may have the seal parts to replace.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? I own both break action guns mentioned; Stoeger .177 with scope and the Benjaman .22 with scope and have the same issue. I was thinking that they just needed tuning and tightening due to wear and tear. You would think the factory scope would be up to snuff ?

Nope, if you check some of the air gun forums it's probably the most hated item, factory scope, especially on a higher powered model. I just got my new Hawke scope on recommendation from AGS. However I forgot to take into account the larger objective can't be used on low mount rings, the Ob just barely touches the top of the receiver, damn. Ring, ring, send medium height scope rings. Should get them next week.

I had an extra Bushnell Trophy kicking around, gave Bushnell a call and anything Trophy and better is rated for airguns. Topped the Nitro Piston air rifle with a 3-9x40 for now, clearest optics I have ever had on an airgun and will not break.

Thanks, good to know if this one goes wonky.
