I think we're all a little warn out, a little tired, a little older. Complaining about the members who are gone either through breaking the Forum rules or of their own volition will not bring them back. It's time to move forward.
I do challenge the naysayers to contribute more positive posts. It's not just about the new threads, in the obvious quieter time of the year. There's a wealth of information on this Forum to peruse; a veritable digital library of first-hand knowledge and life-long experience, not just from those who have moved on, but from those who are unfortunately, no longer with us on Earth as we know it. Personally I'd like to see more feedback in the Outdoors News section; these stories are taken directly from the latest edition of OOD and are fresh fodder from Ontario's Hunting, Fishing, and Outdoors forefront.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

I like this forum, and find it very helpful. I have learned about different hunting methods, been kept updated on relevant MNR dates, and hopefully along the line helped some other folks out too.
That is not to say that some changes are not needed to keep recruitment up, like anything else there is a an expected useful life of technology and design layouts, even logos have expected life times.

I personally enjoy this forum and would not want to see it come to an end
As OP have said there has been some bickering between members and that will weed themselves out
No difference than hunt camps, I belong to 2 different ones one for moose and one for deer hunting.
We have seen many members come and go and even had to ask a few not come back and that's just how life is either you roll with the punches or give up entirely and I don't give up that easy

The forum is what you make it.
currently 300 guest are viewing the site so there is life.
Thanks to a special few members that continue to contribute content.
Yes there still seem to be a few that are pouting about changes made, hopefully they get over the need to feel vindicated and accept the new norm for the site and get on with sharing their outdoor spirit.

Unfortunately ,we lost that much needed balance, in a name of something .
The forum was lively ,because of those many threads!
Yes-there was a bit more of bickering than it may be handled once in a while-but looking back-i think,it was just the nature of the beast.
Some could not handle it-some thrived on it.
Balance.
We lost just about every each profilic member, and we had them a lot.
They were kicked out ,or they left disillusioned.
The remaining us,do post new threads and reply here and there,(but as far as i can see- less then usual).Yet,the "remaining"us were never the big guns for keeping things moving.
Except few current members, but even they are keeping it low....
One thing was missed out in the big scheme of things:
No threads = no forum.
Well said sir, we did lose that much needed balance. In the name of what I what I won't comment on but as we can all see has left us with a quiet board.

This lull in activity always happens. Mid Summer, and mid Winter....for some reason the fishing guys don't seem to as prolific....
As far as the folks that are gone...well...
There are lots of places for political discussion...even debate. However, rational discourse on opposing ideas is fast becoming a lost art. Disagreeing with someones principles is not a personal attack, but in fact resorting to insults, and ad-hominem attacks is, and as a very public facing forum, it denigrates us all, and our pursuits.
The forum isn't dead. The tone has changed...it's now where it was a while ago, where it's more outdoors focused once again.

Personally, I'd rather see fewer, quality posts than the constant bickering and attacks that were going on before.
X2 Thanks for that post.

I have tried to post some interesting things and questions in the hunting, fishing and off topic but none seem to get much traffic.
We lost a lot of good people that were very knowledgeable. One that were both on the Left and Right I won't name them but many know who they are.

These "lulls" happen every year. With weather like this, nobody is likely sitting in the house. There's lawns to cut, gardens to tend, fish to catch, varmints to hunt,BBQ's to fire up and backyard beer to drink, not necessarily in that order, either. As for the loss of members and (no doubt) we've lost a ton who used to be quite prolific and entertaining to read,I can't really comment on that not being involved in the political threads where I used to read their posts. I'm very surprised I haven't seen them elsewhere on this forum. I don't quite know what to think about that. Different strokes for different folks.....I guess. Then, again, maybe,I shouldn't be surprised,at all.
