Default On the Water with Fratri

So Frank and I met for the first time IRL this morning at Fisherman's Pier in Hamilton under the Skyway. We have been trying to do something like this for a while as we both read each other's posts and have developed a sense of mutual respect for each other over the years.

    The meeting place:

So Frank recently acquired a new boat that he uses on Lake Ontario to chase salmon. Beautiful functional 18 foot Tracker. Frank reached out earlier this season with an invitation to join him for a half day on the water out of Fisherman's Pier. After a couple false starts we managed to align our schedules with a day with a decent forecast. We met at 530 am and were on the water before the sun broke the horizon.

    Sunrise this morning:

I lost a shaker early on right at the boat. After that it was pretty quiet for long time before we finally put one a shaker in the live well. After that there was one more fish on but i failed in my attempt to set the hook.

    The shaker:

We fished from shallow to deep but the fish gods were on holidays and all that we managed was the one shaker. This was also another first me in that i have never fished on any the great lakes ever. Done lots of other stuff but this was all new to me. Big thanks to Frank for all the effort he put in for a great relaxing day on the water. We were back at the ramp around 2 pm and by the looks of things timed it just perfect as the lake was really starting to kick up.

    On the way back in:

Shaker came home with me on ice. Going to be another first as i have never eaten anything out of the great lakes before.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.
