Default Don't drink and Xmas Tree!

Granddaughter: Poppy why did the tree fall over?

Gandpa (me) Sheepishly: Well that would be gravity lubricated by whiskey.

Definitely brings back bad memories for me. My Dad was a violent alcholic- PTSD from being overseas 4 years. Many a Christmas tree was knocked over , but I was old enough to know the real cause.

If that's the worst thing that ever happens with a few snorts, then life is good! Good laugh!

Sorry Sharon. That is very sad - the veterans from overseas deserved better. By not providing them the support they needed we failed collectively as a society and sadly they and innocents suffered as a result. Fortunately that is not the case for me. Just one too many.

My Grandfather suffered severe PTSD post war. Was never violent as a result but was never okay after that. He was a kind gentle man who had to do things that were incompatible with his nature. He used to regularly sink into bouts of severe depression post war but as a kid all i remember are the good times when he was able to function as the kind jolly soul he was meant to be.
