I just received a nice male 10 month old Chocolate Lab and from my experience of owning Yellow Labs and Chesapeake's and GSP's I find that dogs are hogs ! They can't help themselves, maybe it's a primal instinct to eat all you can today because you may go hungry tomorrow ? I also agree that it's the owners job to regulate their diet and the old adage of "training a dog is easy but training the owner, that's the hard part". I'm as guilty as the next guy for spoiling my doggies and it's a constant battle to maintain a healthy lifestyle for them or myself for that matter. LoL ! Especially as they(we ?) age and become less active.... it happens !
