What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

I'd much rather catch smaller ones that aren't quite as "polluted". I have no use for catch and release of monsters, for me that's wasted time.

Its a bit of a dilemma for me being on a small unpolluted lake all the fish are great eating. I can get unlimited numbers of bass under 1/2 pound but you are messing around with a lot of cleaning to get a decent meal. A lot easier to take a 4 pounder or two and cut out the work, but as they grow slow up here this is your better breeding stock to not so wise to take.

I do like to eat fish, but would prefer to catch just 1 big one in 8 hours then a bunch of normal sized ones. For me, the fun is in the time on the water chirping your buddy, with a few minutes of sheer chaos when the big 1 is on.

I would rather catch and release a lot of fish during a day on the water than spend a whole day waiting for that one big fish to hit. The fun has always been in the catching and if you manage to latch on to a monster that's just a bonus..

    Agreed

What’s even better is both. Rare, but so fun. A friend has property on a private lake with very few cottages. My brother and his buddy caught and released 30 3-4 pound bass a piece one day. You never catch less than ten nice ones at that lake in the early to mid summer.

I try to eat everyting I catch, but sometimes I get full.

Most of my fishing is for specks and I'm always in search of big ones. That usually doesn't happen the way I plan, so by default, I settle for smaller ones.
