The pack: a true trapping story
https://oodmag.com/pack-trappers-true-story/
This is a true story that happened to Ervin Stack in the 1970s near Timmins. Stack dedicated his free time to hunting, fishing, and trapping.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

Good read for sure thanks.
I guess in Trudeau's modern world this will not happen; in our woke world there is no need to have a handgun in the remote woods as a trapper, prospector etc.
A number of years ago I had a pack of wolves follow me to my truck after dark while moose hunting near Cochrane. I don't care how big and tough you are. When you hear the wolves circling you in the dark woods, you realize how vulnerable you are.

Me too. I had them follow me almost a mile back to my ATV after trailing a big bull I was trying to get a shot at. I finally gave up when it too dark in the bush, but, light enough to see the trail to go out. There's only been a few times I've had crap happen that really worried me. That was at the top of the list. This article was an excellent account of plain good luck.
When you're dead, you don't know you're dead. The pain is felt by others. It's the same when you're stupid.
