Who's looking forward to Monday morning?!

Heading over on Sunday to move into the camp and finish setting up the prospectors tent and camp for a morning opener monday.

Anyone have any updates on the rut? The past few years we seem to get the tail end on the Island..

Thanks! Hopefully the weather holds out. The doe action has slightly decreased but the bucks are starting to come out during the day now according to cameras.

years ago when I used to hunt the island it was unbelievable opening morning of rifle. it sounded like WW3. we would average seeing 30+ deer each per day but this is 15 years ago

I can attest that it sounded like WW3 about 8 years ago on the island.. Couldn't go more than 30 seconds without hearing a shot somewhere in the first 2 hours of opener. Its definitely quieted down since then but still a busy first few minutes of legal light each year.

I'm heading to the Island Saturday, and yes, back in the 80's/90's the hunting was off the charts. Opening day back then consisted of constant gun fire.
We hunt the Meldrum Bay area. A friend has a cabin and 200 acres of bush.
We have had many years of very low numbers lately but it seems to be on an up swing.
