Default Spypoint- warranty issues--be smart when you buy --be aware

Every year I seem to have issues with at least one camera..
Last year had issues with one, it was found to be defective, they did not have stock on the camera so I agreed to take a Link S Dark.
Last week I had issues with the camera so went and retrieved it Sunday.
Get on Chat with Spypoint yesterday and here is what they said.
Told me they would replace camera as it was defective, DEFECTIVE is the word they used,
When they were confirming shipping address came back and said it was out of warranty, said impossible , as it was replacement camera that they had sent to me last year.. reply, yes but the original inservice date of original camera was Nov 7, 2021 and warranty only good for two years, But its been a year, said no that my warranty for my PURCHASE ended Nov 7, 2023,
I then argued that that its Nov 19th and they said yes its out of warranty, again I said but this camera that is now defective did not get activated until Nov 27, 2022 so it has not even been a year, said my warranty was up they would give me 5-10% off the purchase of a new camera, told them not thanks I will go elsewhere,

I called in and was told the exact same thing....

So basically When you activate a camera, the warranty period starts and ends with that date regardless if they had replaced the camera or not, if they replace the camera your warranty does not get restarted with new camera.

Well Spypoint, you have kicked an extremely loyal customer right in nuts, I have over the past 10 years purchased 10 and purchase your membership and purchased larger plans, I was paying well over $50 a month for plans, sounds like alot but it is my entertainment,

My money will be going elsewhere,

Maybe Im wrong, but that certainly is poor service and a horrible stand behind your product policies...

    Bye Bye SPypoint,

To bad as they are Canadian, and I do believe in supporting Canadian as much as possible,

I'm by no means supporting SP service here as it sucks, but i have had several different items covered under warranty by different manufactures and they all use the original date of the purchase. it makes no sense, but what does any more.

That’s a common practice across many sectors. It is what it is!

while not the answer you want, and I'm sorry for your troubles, but that is typical as far as warranties.

As for Lum's $14 shipping cost, have you shipped anything lately, if its larger than an envelope that is about the bare minimum fee. I shipped something in an envelope the other day, it was 2mm to thick to be classed as an envelope. $18 and change to ship, granted it was to the yukon, but still. Shipping is very expensive these days

Folks, I sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will have you know they acted QUICKLY,
I was notified by the BB that they had received my complaint that night, by 930 am yesterday morning I received a call from Spypoint. The lady, Saada, was outstanding, she spoke to me, and when I said that when they replaced the camera it was out of stock so I had agreed to pay $49 to upgrade, so seeing as I had paid for an upgrade, that the warranty should be re started for the replacement camera.
She cam back 30 minutes later with a HUGE apology and to compensate me they were not only replacing the defective camera but for my troubles giving me a second camera.
There are always avenues to go if you feel motivated and you are 1000% that you are in the right.
I really was shocked at how quickly the BB acted but I did give them all the data and included the chat excerpt where it was confirmed by the person that the camera was DEFECTIVE, not that it did not work, that it was in fact DEFECTIVE and had the person confirm it and repeat it.
Also made it clear that on their website, no where does it tell the consumer that in the event a camera is replaced, that it is only warrantied for the remainder of the original warranty period, They must disclose this to you at the time of replacement,

I have had many spypoints replaced over the years, I am disappointed that I had to take it the extent that I did, but in the end this lady Saada really did understand and agreed with me.

I do not believe that Spypoint liked to see the message from BB, and it is too bad that I had to go that route but in the end, when someone with some common sense saw all the facts realized that I was in fact in the right,

I must say for that I do appreciate it and teh fact that Spypoint, in the end did the right thing

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. It’s sad people have to go to this extent to get what they originally wanted.
