It’s important to note that these fines are the minimum that are assessed with a road-side ticket. A guilty verdict in court usually results in much higher fines.

You don’t even have to be a poacher as a momentary lapse of concentration (forgotten tag in another pair of pants) can be expensive if you run into a strict CO.

Yeh I saw that with the counterfeit deer tag conviction, by messing around and leading the MNR into a time consuming investigation, that poacher went from a $600.00 out of court settlement to a $6,000.00
fine in court. A ten fold increase for that gentleman.

Now the trick is will the fine be enforced or will it go into the pile of money already owed to the Government for wildlife violation convictions.

Maybe,we should return to the good ol' days of Warrants of Committal for unpaid fines. There was nothing like a couple of coppers beatin' on the door at 5AM and hauling the scofflaws off to the bucket in their jammies to get their attention right quick.

When the digital currency comes it will automatically be taken out. You might be given time to pay it then after they will just take it. Same will go for all tickets government taxes and child support. They're already making plans to do our taxes and the first step to the digital currency aka open banking is approved to start next year.

The major flaw with them was that they were concurrent and not consecutive for days in jail. I locked up a guy from Rosedale who had about $3,000.00 in outstanding warrants. He was Ok going to Mimico for a long weekend where he relaxed and read a book and got feed at taxpayers expense. LOL


P.S. I think it took me more time banging on the old typewriters all the details of the warrants, than this guy did in the slammer.

I can say from experience that the old way definitely deterred a few guys from the wrong path. Especially the old "softening up" behind the plaza routine. We can all see the results of the change in policing today.

Perhaps the answer is to tie the unpaid fines to not issuing a new outdoors card until paid .... similar to drivers license and unpaid fines.
