Whats the 411 on north shore salmon

So finally getting the boat out for a bit of a troll tomorrow. Poking around a few boards and its been pretty quite. Anyone have a bit of intel for tomorrow. At the moment going to launch out of Ashbridges head out swing to the end of the spit then wander back towards at least the plant if not further east to bluffers unless I see something interesting.

Well at least I know why there hasn't been much chatter. Got out this morning however didn't last long. The heavier east wind forecasted for the afternoon showed up early and made for a rather uncomfortable troll. Would of been OK with a driver but alone the chop was too much work to manage. Caught one anorexic Bow a 3lb fish on a 8lb frame nothing but skin and bone released it in the hopes she fills out. Had a shaker LDR after which call it a morning. Water was real cold as it hit my face on the way in gave me a bit of an ice cream headache. The 2 hits came on a flounder pounder spoon down 30. Think the real action though would of been down past 100ft was marking some good hooks just didn't feel like playing around at that depth in bouncy conditions.
On a side note Ashbridges Bay docks are in horrible condition. They have been going downhill for sometime, now almost unusable with that and the dockhogs- 5 seadoos and a cruiser parked overnight. Getting in and out is a bit of a challenge especially by yourself. Going to be a real mess there when the fishing picks up.

I have had a friend get into salmon out of Wellington, I consider this a week or more earlier than normal

late update but the fishing between bluffers and the spit has been good lately. waters warmed up bait rolled in been an early bite in ontop to the drop than after sunrise head out. Fish have been down deep though. Managed 2 on sunday the first a 10-12 lb chin on a moonshine spoon the second a 2lb shaker on a dodger and fly. quit by 9:00am as the traffic out there was a bit much. going out tomorrow think this rain may have flipped things around

I always got my best bites in the grey dawn light just before sunrise, by the time the bottom of the sun hit the horizon the bites usually slowed.
