Got to Thin The Herd
I purchased my third doe license this morning - I can take a buck and 3 doe with the licenses I have - right now there are too many deer where I live - you can't grow anything without putting high fences up - should end up with deer meat in the freezer - the one thing that is bad is the slow increase in cases where deer have CWD - so far they have not detected the disease around here but it may be only a question of time that a deer is tested and it has CWD - then the big question is - do I continue to hunt - it sure would be nice if they can determine that humans cannot get the disease from eating the meat of an infected deer - boy it seems that it is always something

You're teasing us with your reported deer density and multiple deer tag availability. However, I'll take lower populations if it means keeping CWD and other diseases at bay. I do fear for next generations of hunters having healthy deer to hunt, potentially a sad situation, hopefully science can come to the rescue.

Can you suggest a good unit for non resident with lots of access? 3 of us are coming down for the flintlock season. We were considering additional doe tags in 4D or perhaps one of the 5’s that offer late season rifle also in case there is a bad weather day. I’d appreciate the input of a local. We are likely heading down second week of January. Private message is good too, if you don’t want to post public. Thanks.

I hunt in 4C - at the foot of the Blue Mountain - that's where I live - there are millions of acres of public land you can hunt on - either the state parks - the game lands - or the Allegheny national forest - I suggest you get free maps from the state park agency and the game commission showing all of the. public land you can hunt on - access to these lands is no problem - That's one thing that is nice about Pa. - there is a lot of public land to enjoy -
