another Grouse
Yesterday I've spent almost 5 hours walking through some snow covered trails. It was a great day to be out in the bush, and the large public forest track was all mine.
Flushed quite a number of bids (10+), it was nice to see these good numbers. Most of them took-off from behind snow covered thick evergreens, didn't even see them. One bird gave me a good chance for a shot, and dropped it with one of those text-book snap shots that brings a large smile on your face.

And as a bonus, I found a small remote spot with young evergreens that was packed with snowshoe tracks/droppings. I will be back down there for sure.

Enjoyed the pics. Thanks.

Has too much time on their hands
Moving 10+ birds in an outing is a great day anywhere!

Nice bird congrats. Did you flush any hare?

While checking-out the spot from the trail, I actually jumped one snowshoe (no shot). I was tired, it was getting late, and had a long way back. So I've resisted the temptation to chase them. Cannot wait to be back there.

Yes, it was nice to see birds in good numbers, and in various areas of the bush. They certainly enjoyed the sunny side of thick evergreen bush. Taking one down was just a nice bonus.
