Eskimo Pistol
Yesterday was my first time using this auger. It does not have the center point to start the cutting. I tried to drill a hole on glare ice and it would skip all over the place and would not drill.
I moved to some snow and it cut right away. Is this a known issue and why is there no starting point

Did you try starting it slowly without the snow?

Read somewhere that older versions of that auger don't have a centering point and that some of the older ones shipped with shoddy blades. Reach out to Eskimo customer service - they are supposed to be pretty good.
