That's a wrap
We finally got a winter here in the sunny south with 16"-18" of ice on Rondeau Bay and Lake St Clair. Got out a few times with some good outings and some not so good. It was nice to pull my gear out and actual use it for a change, It's been a few years due to the lack of ice here.
Wild temps and rain have set in now and the Bay and Lake have opened up fast. Sure hope we get another good winter in 2026 as I am retiring in June of this year so will have lots of time for ice fishing.
How are your Lakes and Bay's holding up

Simcoe is holding well will get out a few more times before closer. Then start working on the staging jumbos next week. Probably going to head to bernard in April when Simcoe is pooched.
The slush beds are deteriorating the ice under it so who knows how that will affect things to come. The ice around them still holds lots of black with a few inches of white on top.
The best is yet to come. I hope we can have a few days in April Still for the perch but we won't know till the time comes. Love April ice perfect walking and plenty of fish

Glad to hear you made it out Terry. Not done yet in my world. Hitting Nip Friday/Saturday and then after it closes will switch to Abitibi until mid-April.

Lots of snow and ice around Thunder Bay. I was out last Saturday there was 20” of snow on the ice and there was 24” of ice. The weight of the snow on the ice caused water to come up through the holes.
I’m heading over to Rainy Lake this weekend and conditions there are quite different there. Not much snow there so I’ll be leaving the snow machine at home and using the 4-wheeler instead. Hopefully, in 2 or 3 weeks, I’ll go back and and fish the Rainy River out of a boat, then back home for more ice fishing before the season closes on April 15th.

Judging by the weather I'm not sure about simcoes April fish anymore. I don't have any concerns with the ice at the moment but looking at the long range there isn't much temperatures to keep it holding.
Soon it will day by day conditions. Friday Saturday and Sunday are double digit days. With only a few nights going below zero in the 2 week forecast. .

Riding 12 km offshore tomorrow. Gonna sit in my chair and get enough sun to turn my face cherry red. Hopefully catch some fish while I am at it. Tying leaders tonight.
Next season Terry once you are retired you are gonna come up to my place and I will get you on some Nip monsters.
You can school me in electronics. I still just go old school with my gut. Working for me this season as should break the 300 fish mark tomorrow since the 2025 hardwater season started.
