2025 gardens what are you growing?

It's been years since I have put in a vegetable garden.

I did plant 3 Haskap plants and 5 Blueberry plants and they will be 3 years old this year.
Last year I also planted 2 blackberry (Boysenberry) vines.

All should take off this year. The blueberry plants were set back one season because I accidentally gave them to much Aluminum Sulphate burning them, I had to reduce the soil PH quite a bit but forgot that I already had sprinkle some the week before when it was raining..

If I do put a vegetable garden this year, I am going to try a straw bale garden.
I will probably use 6 bales.

I will probably plant String beans, Carrots, Lettuce, spinach, onions, Mellon and 1 or two squash.

I also plan to get some Sunchoke tubers from a friend of mine.

If you do the hay bails please keep us posted I was thinking about trying it last year .

Two weeks ago I started my peppers, both hot and sweet varieties. They have only just started sprouting. I keep them inside a grow room I built in the basement.

At that same time I started asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, leeks, lettuces, and spinach.

Onions were started back in February.

Everything has sprouted and is showing good growth. As of last week I placed all the cool hardy plants in my cold frames outside. It's dropped down to minus 7 a couple of nights and it hasn't bothered the plants at all.

I'll probably start my tomatoes and eggplant in the next week, and probably another batch of lettuces.

If this nice weather keeps up, I'll have the peas planted outside also.

It's that busy time. The orchard has been pruned same as the vineyard. The higher levels of snow allowed the bunnies to chew up more than they usually do. Raspberries took a good hit. I'm slowly cleaning up as I go.

In the flower garden I've noticed that the snow drops have bloomed, the daffodils are 2 inches tall already. It's nice to see things moving along.

Didn't know I needed to start the onions so early. I'm going to try and sow some seeds in 2 weeks into the ground and see what happens. Just started doing onions last year and went with the sets I'll do both this year.

Just picked up 20 half inch flex pipes from peavey mart in Lindsey. 70% off can't go wrong . Was needing something to keep the netting up and off the ground this will work perfectly.

Also going to make a few temporary greenhouse boxes to get an early jump on a few things that I will plant directly into the ground. Always experimenting with something lol.

Been starting more I just can't stop lol

Got 6 banana peppers

Some tiny Tim's

And sweet 100s cherry tomatoes.

Also a fee types of lettuce.


Thinking I'll plant my onion seeds later next week in a 3by3 bed covered with a homemade greenhouse. We will see how they turn out compared to the sets I'll also add in.

Interesting you asked. Somehow got curious about sunchokes. Was out for a run with the dog and if my plant ID is accurate think I found some wild/feral chokes. Dug up some roots going to plant 'em in a spot in the garden this year and see what develops.

The wild ones are good to eat but they don't grow as large, my neighbour has some. I'm trying to find the larger tubers.
