Nothing worse on opening morning to post at a quiet spot and have 100 ATVs go by making noise, pollution and reducing the enjoyment of the hunt. As grumpygeezer suggests, maybe the solution is to severely restrict their use to only those with certified mobility issues, kind of like a disabled parking pass permit. The rest should be happy with driving their vehicle (pick up truck or other ) to their spots as far as it could go, which would be less than 50 % of the hunting areas. The rest on foot. Sounds fair to me.

PS. Why do you have a camp 28 km in the bush? is this on private property? If not no one should have a permanent camp that far in the bush on crown land. Sorry my opinion.
For the simple reason that the camp like others in the area were established on crown leases back in the 50`s and there are no roads. We do pay lease rates plus property taxes to the township yearly..even without services. We use the atvs and trailers to get there, gather firewood, extract game (once in a while) and get out of there. we rarely see anyone else but us back where we are and have never had a problem with atv`s running around all over the place. The last thing we need is more government restriction on what we can and what we cant do. Tags in our are are limited and we would be lucky to get an adult tag in the next few years. We hunt deer there also but even then we are seeing more moose than deer. In other words..the moose population is pretty safe where we are most years. But back to the topic, I have been north on many hunts and witnessed "road hunters" as well as "motor boat" hunters" That I dont agree with. But whats the difference in that than a man canoeing on a small river or lake doing the same thing?

Around 1950's, the MNR was offering crown land (only an acre or so per parcel) for lease in many remote areas between Sudbury and Parry Sound. I later belonged to a camp established at that time, and as Grumpygeezer has said, there have always been yearly lease and property taxes that need to be paid. At that time, there were no roads for access, or even large scale mechanized logging in the area. But, there was a north/south rail line that cut through all this crown land. Many camps were established next to this rail line for the simple fact that arrangements could be made with the rail company to hitch a ride to and from camp from a designated pickup/drop off point at a rail crossing. I know of camps that were still doing this 20 years ago, until the wide spread use of atvs and large scale logging operations allowed for the making of permanent trails to get to camp. The history lesson for today.
