    Default Lake Of Bays

    Hey Guys,

I'm looking at heading up to Lake of Bays on the weekend of the 8th to chase some trout and whitefish. I haven't fished the lake before - can any of you guys provide some ideas on public access points / parking? I'm coming from Whitby, so I would be looking to fish around the dorset area, but I'm willing to go where the fish might be!

Any help on access would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    FishFrenzy

I've fished out of Dwight Bay a couple of times, but we didn't do that well. I've also fished out of Whitehouse Bay where we caught some whitefish and lakers. There are more access points and I am pretty sure most of them are boat launches. So, I'd start with those. I am pretty sure people fish out from the Dorset area. I think there are two or three boat launches in that area. I suggest calling one of the bait shops. There are a couple in Hunstville and one in Baysville. Not sure about Dorset.

Here's a list of public boat launches:

Access to Lake of Bays1. Dwight Beach off Hwy 60 in Dwight
    2. Intersection of South Portage Road and North Portage Road off Hwy 60 in Dwight
    3. Dorset Government Dock off Hwy 35 in Dorset
    4. Baysville Town Dock off Hwy 117 in Baysville
    5. Lake of Bays Park on South Portage Road near Baysville
    6. Off Hwy 117 near Baysville
    7. On Rabbit Bay off Hwy 35 in Dorset

I've used the Rabbit Bay access with good results in the past.

Is the accesspoint for Rabbit Bay right off of 35? I can't see the launch on google maps using the satellite. Thanks for the info!

Thanks! Navionics shows the launch and the road. Anyone with experience on the lake? Deepest basin in rabbit bay is about 65fow. I'll probably bring up a sled with me - is the ice in the narrows safe to travel over? Any tips from you guys??

I prefer the Bigwin launch point off of Highway 117

Also, 65ft is plenty for lakers and whities.
