Had a fun day out but some people need to learn
I had a great day on simcoe with the girlfriend. Started at line two and it was slow. Moved around the lake a bit and decided to go for white fish on shallow. Didnt end up hooking into any but I managed to lake 10 herring and she got 4 ( she had a blast seeing as it was only her third time out and has only got perch). She was pretty disappointed when she found out we couldn't keep this elusive endangered species haha. ( that season needs to be reopened). Anyways. Guys around us were hitting them too. One man is walking around the ice with about a 3lb one on the end of his line asking people of its a herring or whitefish. He came up to me and said " I'm sure this is a white fish". All I could say was " it's gonna be an expensive one if you get caught". He said e was going to throw it back because it was a herring. By this point it's eyes were froze and the fish not moving much ( dangling from his hook). He was in his late 50's if not more). How can people still not tell these two species apart? I'm sure more doe each year from guys doing this then if we could just keep two as part of the white fish limit. Anyways. End rant. How'd everyone else make out?

I hear you bud, in the fall I had the chance to fish Wilmot and witnessed a guy land a beautiful Brown that he thought was a Rainbow. CLUELESS.
A bad day of fishing....is not as bad as you think.
