OOD digital version is LIVE - you like?
Hey All,
Just wanted to let everyone know that we went live with the digital version yesterday! So, if you signed up for the 30-day free trial or were keen and subscribed, be sure to check your inbox for an email from Subscription Services to activate your subscription and then one from OOD. In the future, you will just be getting one monthly email that will let you know when the digital version is available.
Any questions -- check out the FAQ section at www.oodmag.com/digital or send me a message.
Also, we'd love any feedback from those who have looked at it!
Cheers,
April

It's a good way to read the mag while at work, which just holding a material copy may be frowned upon if caught
I don't read it cover to cover as soon as it hits the mail box, nor would I in a digital copy.
It hits the bathroom and I read it there, also where I won't take my laptop or tablet, or I bring it out into the hot tub, also where I don't (after losing one blackberry) won't bring it either.
Aside from that, I toss the mag into my laptop bag and read it on flights, where I'm not told to "turn it off" before take off and landing.
I am sure it will be a welcomed and used utility for some, for me, this is the rare instance, paper beats technology.

Initial impressions are good. I read portions on my iPad mini online. Seemed to run smoothly. However, when I tried to download the PDF to read when I get to work yesterday, it crashed my internet app. Repeatedly. Same thing today. I downloaded the PDF successfully using my laptop, though. I will read the PDF on the computer at work tonight. I haven't checked out any of the online extra features yet.
i'm running my iPad mini with iOS v. 7.1.1
I don't know if the PDF download issue is with my hardware/software or with the software the magazine is running. I will try updating my iPad when I get a chance and try again.

Generally, I prefer the PDF versions because I am too cheap to pay for a data plan. I would rather spend that money on fuel and equipment to go outdoors.

Thanks for letting us know about this issue. I will look into it and see if there is a solution or at least a reason why this is happening.
I should mention though, none of the extra stuff (photos or videos) will work if you don't have internet connection.
As for not using data -- switch over to wifi! There are lots of public places that have it now (libraries, Tim Horton's, etc.)

No issues here. It loads fast on both Windows 7 and Samsung Galaxy. I can download the PDF fine too on both with no issue.
Reading is smoother/faster on the online version though. The downloaded PDF is big and takes some processing power to fully render on a Samsung S4.

Yes. I do use wifi at home and elsewhere, however, I don't have access to wifi or data while at work or at the camp.
I knew about the extras only being available online.
thanks for looking into the iOS download issue.

For those users of the windows platform, Foxit Reader, which is free, loads faster than Adobe and takes up less RAM and hard drive space. I use it as my default PDF reader.

Foxit is a great replacement, been using it for years, Adobe is right up there as far as "resource hogs" go along with Symantec Anti Virus, and McAfee

AprilOOD, how do I gain access to the full Deer Hunting special issue? I can get a preview, but I want to see it all.
