First ice
When is a typical date in your area for first walkable ice to fish on. Lake St Clair/Rondeau Bay is my area and most winters we have walkable fish second week of January.

Has too much time on their hands
Going to be early this year. I took this photo on Sunday Nov 11 and at that time all the back bays on my lake already had an inch of ice and there was 1/2 to 3/4 inch all the way around the lake extending out to about 25 to 100 yards from shore. The broken ice in the photo is from me wading out into the lake to disconnect our pump for the winter:
Since that photo was taken there have been 3 nights below -15 and more in the forecast with no above freezing temperatures forecast for the foreseeable future. Back bays on smaller lakes could be walk-able soon. For reference this is in the Restoule area.

species...…..what a great picture, thanks for sharing
cantcatchacold……..lucky you. By the look of our long range weather forecast here in the sunny south I may have to hit Simcoe or Bay of Quinte before we get good ice
