I thought the MNR made it pretty clear a year or two ago that they will not take care of bear problem anymore!!!! So, it kind of make sense if they didn't answer, no?

Heaven forbid they should have money in the budget to deal with this eventuality,but,N-O-O-O,we get "bear wise" bullshyte, instead. The part that really PO's me is that they knew for two days there was a problem, but, waited until this morning to actually do something. To add insult to injury, the Police shot the Bear just as OMNRF staff arrived with proper equipment to deal with the situation. Somebody needs a -whuppin' for tis fiasco.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Just another sad display of police brutality....

If the bear attacked I can see shooting it but if it's just trying to survive or stay out of the way I say leave it alone or re-locate it...

I bear hunt & respect this animal, there is a time and place to shoot a bear & this is not one of them..........

Lots of bears get the s-s-s.

That this one makes the news doesn't make it more important than any of the others.

And if we are trying to place blame...

Its not with the cops. They are not wildlife specialists. This is how they deal with problem wildlife.
Its not with MNR. Their policy is not to handle bear problems.
Possibly with the municipality animal control? Not sure about that either.

Got to disagree with you here. A problem animal is a problem animal. Be it a coyote, raccoon, or a bear within city limits. Quick safe cost effective way to deal with a displaced animal.
Time in the outdoors is never wasted

I'm not surprise at all they deployed the all unit for a bad bear!
Last week someone in this forum reported that a "Fawn" was a source of danger for his community, and animal control got involved ..... People seems to be different in the city.
