It's funny how Joe says it cant be done to get rid of the second amendment. Prohibition and Slavery were in the constitution, Those are gone. You need to take the money out of politics. You also need to call this what it is, It's terrorism. Right Wing white wack jobs and the states do nothing to stop white people. More people over the last 10 years have been killed by radical white "Christians" that any muslim group. South Carolina is a state that is corrupted by racism, Hell they even have the confederate flag still flying in their state capital. They are so worried about someone in the middle east and sweep away the actual problem in home.

These attacks are racially driven by FOX news and the right.

It's funny that the 2nd amendment is to "stop" any tyrannical government. So when did the people get a Airforce, Navy, Army and nuclear capabilities? Like they even have a chance to fight

Don't think it's the second amendment that is the main problem... It's mental illness IMO, extreme poverty and lack of opportunity to climb up to the middle class, too many drug addicts, both legal/illegal, degraded media culture, crap chemicalsed food and a broken environment with too much pressure on it, beyond massive polluting factory farms, fracking polluting groundwater... It's literally making many people crazy, and sending them off the deep end, like ancient Rome was poisoned by lead pipes, and other problems...

And part of that mental illness is being gun crazy and paranoid, but I don't believe banning everything is the answer either, their are root causes... Anyhow good luck to the yanks, it's in our best interest here... They fall too far and we will have bigger problems here eventually.

What ever gave you the idea anyone was sticking their heads in the sand? What ever gave you the idea anyone was "siding" with anyone? Where do you see anyone offering advice? What part of "respectful debate " don't you understand?

In the States you have the right to be armed unless you have done something to loose that right. In Canada we used to be able to obtain the right after certain scrutiny by the police. Now that right is gone.
No doubt the majority of people in both countries are law abiding folk who would not tolerate wanton violence. That is the Conservative belief. The Liberals feel that most people would just choose force for any problem and cannot be trusted with any weapons...

Canadians never had any such right.

    They were extended a privilege.

That's exactly correct. The huge difference between the United States and Canada is that the US has private property rights enshrined in their Constitution where here in Canada, all private property rights in all things are held by The Crown. Citizens are only granted "priviledges" which can instantly disappear at the stroke of the Governor General's pen.

Those were the good old days, in Ontario that privilege [to be able to hunt with a handgun] was granted to us by Kelso Roberts during his tenure as Attorney General as he was a handgun shooter himself.
That privilege just quietly disappeared when he was replaced as Attorney General.
