9-Point Buck Working a Bean Field (Ottawa - Sept. 20)
Hello All,
Got out into the deer woods yesterday for the first time this season. No hunting in this area, so strictly photography and filming adventures. Plenty of does spotted, as well as five bucks.
Shot this footage of a nice 9-point buck, as hung with two does and fed in a bean field.
(watch in 1080p HD for best quality.)
Cheers,
Justin

Awesome footage Justin. Very cool. Are you filming with a DSLR?

How far away was he? What focal length were you using on that lens?

35wailin - If I had to guess, the buck was about 60 to 70 feet away. The one doe did come within 20 feet of me to feed. Was using a 150-500mm telephoto, so really 800mm with the crop sensor. The still images I shot were mostly between 400 and 500mm, somewhere in that region. This is NCC land (greenbelt) so urban deers. Many are used to humans, mainly through hiking and biking. You are able to get a lot closer to them than true "wild" deer. I was standing in the field in the complete open when I shot this.
Haha! Sorry MikePal
Cheers,
Justin

Wow. I saw a doe and fawn last Sunday about 60 yards or so. Pulled out the camera, but with the overcast sky, fog and only about an hour after sun up, the pics turned out grainy.
