Ugly incident in Germany - political ramifications?

Apparently,the interview process consists of asking a few questions of each family member,a check with "local authorities" (whoever the hell that happens to be if they're not either dead or fighting somewhere),whether or not they have a sponsor and what grade their kids were in at school. Most documentation is either bogus or unverifiable,but,they're being fast tracked,anyway. Gee,what could possibly go wrong?
