Fly fishing for Whitefish
I know it's a while till mayfly hatch, but has anyone fly fished for whitefish using a mayfly? I'm looking for information on if I should tie nymphs or mayfly adults. I have heard that Whitefish may prefer to hit under the water compared to surface.

I'm interested in this as well. And yes swamp singer TNFF has an episode with Bill Spicer flyfishing for them. Personally no experience...but would like to change that

Most of the whitefish I have caught were on nymphs. The same nymphs you would use for trout - Hare's Ears, Pheasant Tails, etc. The whitefish and trout are feeding on the same bugs.
Have caught a few on dries while fishing for trout during a strong hatch of PMD's. IMO, attractor dry flies might not be productive - I believe whitefish are primarily bottom feeders.
