    Hey guys,
just wondering how much a damaged prop can affect an outboards performance? Speed, acceleration etc.
    Thanks

Obviously, it depends on how serious the damage? A little nick on the trailing edge can be filed out perhaps, but chunks out of it or a bent blade can cause some serious internal damage to shaft, gears, seals, etc. Have it looked at by a reputable marine mechanic if you're in doubt.

Depending on damage, the issue is always balance. It might feel ok running, but a slight wobble due to imbalance will wear out parts faster. I had my prop "redone" by dealer for about $160 4 yrs ago. I also learned to always a carry a spare prop, nuts, and cotter pins... At the dock no problem to change, but in deep water...gets tricky with nut and cotter pins.

I will get it repaired. It does not cost a lot.
