Default Put a stain on my flinter stock

After some research into what the late 18th century long rifle builders used to stain their guns, I decided to make my own "vinegaroon" stain. Vinegaroon stain was used when builders could not get "Aqua Fortis". I made 4 different batches and tried them on different pieces of Hard Maple with varying results. On my stock there are 3 coats of stain and 3 coats of finish. I went modern with the finish. It is Behr Scandinavian Tung Oil. I still have to apply a coat of paste wax after a 36 hour drying period...........................Daniel146_3535.jpg146_3537.jpg
