Default Velvet Bucks in the Bean Fields - Video (Ottawa, August 7)

    Hello All,

Headed out this evening for the last 1.5 hours of daylight to capture some velvet bucks in the bean fields. First time out with the camera this summer, and from the looks of things, some great bucks at this spot for the upcoming rut.
Total of 13 bucks spotted, two of them being big 10-pointers. Sadly, both these fellas were close to a hundred yards away when I found them and after the sun had already set. (One tough thing with evening deer photography - fading ...light means a ramped up ISO and slow shutter speeds, which results in less than stellar results.)
One funny story from this outing - was photographing a pair of six-pointers at the end of the night. They were maybe 30 yards from me. As I began to walk back to the truck along the edge of the bean field, they both followed me, ending up less than 12 feet away. Definitely curious guys! Minutes later, I almost step on a porcupine which was feeding on some beans.
Just another night out with the camera...

    Here's a short video:

Note - This spot is public land but off-limits to hunting. It is where I do my deer photography during the fall, as well as my shed hunting

    Cheers,

    Justin

Seen a nice buck today, just around the corner standing in a field about noon. Nice to see them mid summer.

They're taking the beans off already around here, looks like a poor harvest. Some fields have a second seeding, the first one rotted in all the water.

Cool stuff Justin as always... Been out myself lately just running the roads looking for deer. Seeing quite a few as well as turkeys. Love the color of them this time of year...

Thanks for the comments, guys and gals!
And yes, Mike, very poor bean crop this year. To be honest, when I took a close look, most don't even have a bean - or if they do - it is miniscule.
    Cheers,
    Justin
