From what I've heard / read wild boar are so destructive that people / groups that have been dealing with them say they wouldn't wish it on anyone else.

I don't think its huge numbers but there are wild boar in Canada in provinces West of Ontario. I believe Manitoba or Alberta had/ have bounty rewards out for wild boar

Look up any invasive species. In its own initial environment that animal is not a problem. Introduce it to a foreign environment it wreaks havoc in the new one. Once you release the genie from the bottle you can't get it back in.

I wouldn't want to be the dumb son-of-a-bi**h that advocated for Wild Boar introduction or conspired to introduce them. The destruction to local agriculture is well documented in the US from Florida to New York east to Texas.

The damn things breed like rabbits is what I'm told from relatives that hunt them in Pennsylvania besides being bat-shyte crazy vicious. With no natural predators, they're impossible to stop once they're established. This I know, though, they're delicious smoked.

First off the pigs in the US are not wild boar, they are feral pigs from the start of the Spanish expansion through to modern times, yes, they can survive in Canada and they are in some places.

They are very destructive, they will wreck farmers fields, creeks, native marshland, pretty much everything, they are very invasive and very bad, look at the southern US for that.

Any suggestion of introduction is stupid, farmers would lose their minds on anyone even thinking about it.

If youve ever seen the show Game Keepers on Wild Tv, you commonly see entire episodes dedicated to getting rid of these things.

They would likely thrive in southern Ontario where it is mostly Ag. They would probably eat just about everything in sight and put a major strain on the deer herd.
The deer are here, when I'm not near
