Nice meat deer and excellent shot. Your posts have got me interested in the swede, so I did a little research into the round. Very effective Caliber with quite the following in Europe, surprised it never rally became popular here in North America.

Nice patience to get her that close.
Big fan of the neck shot. Keeps your eyes focused- aim small - miss small.
Well done

I just finished cleaning it, love the smell of Hoppe's, but I digress...The Mauser action on this model 96 is just smooth as silk, craftsmanship that is hard to find in N.A. firearms. The 6.5 mm ( .264) is a fabulous bullet, the 139 gr gets about 2600fps and has an almost flat trajectory out to 200 yds. It is nice to shoot, low recoil and is very accurate, popular buy sport competition shooters etc.
Your right, I suspect I know why it's not as popular in N.A, but then I might be drawing conclusions about guys buying more gun than they need

It was actually quit the challenge, she was very wary, even bolted twice but came back. I was in a ground blind and she had her eye on it constantly, she seemed to know something was up. Thank God for the trees, her head was behind one long enough for me to get the rifle set into my shoulder. I had the finger on the trigger a good 2 minutes, reticle locked on the side of her head, with the heart pounding, waiting for her to come out a little farther from behind a tree to give me a good shot.
Yes the patience to get good shot placement is the key a good clean kill shot.
