Went out party hunting with my daughter and sat for 4 hours yesterday afternoon. Air temp was -18C (0F) and windchill was supposedly -28C (-18F). Had 6 does come in at 430 pm to the food plot and watched them at 15-20 yards for about 15 minutes. Two or three of them kept their eyes on me at all times and one finally decided to come over and check me out. She got to within 3 yards (I was sitting on the ground behind some windfall) before she smelled me and gave the alarm call. Prior to reaching my end of the plot they entertained my daughter for 10 or 15 minutes as well.

    Gear for the day included:

    - pair of merino long underwear
    - pair of fleece long underwear over the merino
    - fleece lined pants
    - insulated snow camo overalls
    - merino base long sleeve tee
    - fleece sweater
    - North Face 850 goose down parka
    - Snow camo parka shell
    - thin merino balaclava
    - snow camo hat
    - heated gloves
    - heated boots with bison wool socks

I felt like the Michelin Man but was quite comfortable
Bring a compass. It's awkward when you have to eat your friends.

I assume it is battery powered? If It's being sold by Sitka I assume it is $$$$ and good quality. What's the ballpark cost and how long do the batteries last?

If I were to go out for deer, I would limit my sitting time to the last hour before dark...
Best of luck filling that tag

Nope it's not made by Sitka and no batteries. They're built like a sleeping bag. The price is around $400

I'm a fan of the heater body suit. I've done all day sits (in a stand, not blind) in -10C with mine and stayed comfortable

Brrrr. I went out for 2.5 hrs in -16. I wore my floater suit. I had the feet warmers on my toes with two pair merino socks and my toes still got cold.

You forgot one of the most important ones - the beard!

-18C + wind is very cold to be sitting out there. Last year I hunted to the end of the season, and I hunted in those temps, but only from a tent-type ground blind with a small heater going. I didn't see any deer after the rifle season and very few tracks on the main property I hunt despite the snow. As a result, this year I decided not to hunt deer after the muzzleloader season.

I seen your last 2 bear set-ups and now this!
You definitely take the path least taken.
