Smelt Fishing Locations
Hey there I'm looking to get out smelt fishing this spring, having never tried it before I was wondering where there are good runs around southern ontario and when they usually begin.
Thanks

Has too much time on their hands
Most rivers that empty into a lake near a beach is a great area to target smelts in the spring

The Smelts will run when the Kitty willows bloom.

Absolutely, there's thousands of places to fish for them. Muskoka has smelt runs I've been a part of. Talk to local bait shops in your area or the area you'd like to fish.

Pretty much non-existant unfortunately. Used to be a blast.

Sorry to hijack the OP's thread. But do Smelts ever come up the Ottawa River?

Good question. I'd like to know also.
My opinion is that they probably do
