Just read the summary I added. I looked at it and since I started work at 8AM and finished about half an hour ago it is a ramble so I wrote the summary. Good night.

Free of attacks from others due to inexperience or difference of opinion on their preference.
The tangents are often ridiculous agreed...and I would like to just know how political decisions like lead bans on ammo or fishing gear, changes to laws regarding classes of firearms, magazines and access etc. will not affect the fishing and hunting rights, access, equipment and techniques.

As a moderator of another forum I would suggest that if you see a post which is breaking the rules to use the "Report Post" button. With there only being two mods left here, they obviously cant read everything, so reporting the bad posts will make it easier for them to remove them.
The report post button is under the avatar of each post, the little "flag" icon.
In my experience the report post button used very lightly. Use it, thats what its for.

Exactly, I always act on reported problems. I try not to edit anyones post. I will delete it or move it and award infraction points where appropriate.

I joined this outdoors forum years ago. There was not a day that I did not look forward jumping onto this site and interacting with others who had the same interest that I have. As a hunter education instructor for the past several years I’ve always suggested to my students this forum is a great resource where you can learn from outdoors enthusiasts who offer their stories and experience. Throughout the past few years I have received feedback and feedforward that a lot of the people that I recommended to this forum refuse to go on it or the ones that do will not reply to questions, start threads & offer their opinion. Feedback I have received its because of certain few individuals who take it upon themselves to belittle others commentary. What I have heard Its more about the way these few members provide their "angle" kind of like an ego trip for themselves....Just saying I've heard this from a lot of people.
I think this is a great forum and I will continue to be part of it. There is nothing better when the work day is going slow and you need a jump start and you log-on to this forum there is always a great read that gets you through the day with threads about the field or water. I really enjoy members sharing their experience about our great outdoors in this country. I will continue to offer this forum as a resource in my classes to students who are up-and-coming into the outdoors as I still believe 95% of members are on it for the same reason it was created for.
My grandfather who was in world war one told me before he passed away in the late 70s there are two topics to be wary of in life; politics & religion. Mankind and history has not changed in the last 2500 years with these two topics so if you choose to bring these two topics up be prepared that many opinions, thoughts & egos will be provided. I truly believe this forum is meant for the outdoors people but we’ll always have politics, daily news and religions come up at some sort of thread. Its inevitable!!

To hunt & to fish = enjoying life; I live for the outdoors.

Outdoorsman, Like yourself I joined this Forum 10 years ago and at the age of 65 now have tried to pass down some of my experiences fishing and camping, and not afraid to ask for advise either, and like you have certainly told a lot of people about this forum, Lets Take the fishing section as an example, being a new member you could hit the search button for lets say best rod and reel to use for walleye fishing, well I think you would have the better part of a days reading ahead of you and come away with a pretty good idea of what you needed without having to ask 1 question. I wonder if this is what's happening to the forum as well, people getting the info they need without any input. just a thought.

Well I'll tell you what is happening - it is called political correctness - people have knowingly or unknowingly bought into its agenda - for some reason people are very thin skinned these days and feel that they can go through life without being offended - this has spilled over into a lot of forums - and in certain places it has gone crazy - as a result people can't refer to a male or female in standard terms - everything has to be gender neutral - and O boy if you said something that someone else doesn't like they have a ---- hemorrhage - we need to go back to the old days where if you got something to say - say it - and if someone doesn't like what you said - tough darts - they can always reply in kind - we have become a society of wimps - for those who are bent over when offended I would suggest another forum - one that caters to old ladies who talk about sewing and cooking - men need a man's type forum where you can speak your peace -
Personally I don't get offended no matter what some __ hole says -
