Trimmer I also wear it when I am swimming because I occasionally get severe leg cramps, I currently have a 2 buckle and when I am in the water it seems to pull up around my head. Do the 4 buckles work better?

It depends on your body size. At 6'2" (240lbs.) I don't have a lot of options. The Mustangs fit snug around the arms and don't ride up when zipped and buckled. Some PFD's have a crotch strap. I can't see them being very comfortable,though.

I have a 4 buckle model and found they ride up as well. What i did start doing was wearing swim trunks with belt loops, I wear an old belt and have attached the bottom chest strap from the pfd to the belt via some extra quick clips I got off of an old back pack. Works great, pfd stays down and shorts stay up.

The pic shows a fire rescue pfd but basically my setup is the same. I go through the waist belt rather than between the legs as it is more comfortable.

I wonder if they make PFDs specifically for pregnant ladies...my body shape has morphed into something that is closer to a women 8 months along......no wonder it rides up to my chin when I sit..LOL...

edit add: apparently they do....looks about right

I use 4 buckle Mustang that work well for me. I'm in the same boat...not a spring chicken anymore,either. Make sure it fits comfortably and has the DOT or USCG certification number on it. Pick a color and you're gtg,preferrably a drab color,so,you don't scare the fish.........not that it ever helped me,though. LOL

My boat isn't registered and we don't go in huge lakes. I can still swim just not as comfortable as I use to be. Just have to be strong enough to make sure I can be sure to get my son to safety if it ever happened. Some of the lakes I fish are less then 10 ft deep and I am never more then 75 yards from shore. But there are a few I go on where I maybe half a km off the shore. I don't trust myself as much now.

Still in your case USCG ones don't qualify. Must be Canadian approved.

They used to be way back when I was doing marine patrol. I'm not sure when it changed (obviously long ago),but,thanks for the info. Good to know.
