    Default Dove Opener

    Good day everyone,

Just realized dove opens up on the first, aside from non-toxic shot any other tidbits of info out there? I have access to a few farms, whether or not that will translate to birds is another story. Excited to get shooting and chase these birds for the first time. Any info would be helpful, I know some folks use decoys and that’s about it

I have had good luck using the mojo voodoo spinning wing decoy set up in feeding fields. Really seems to attract them.

Silage corn fields are great if you can get access. They are about the only ones cut now. However, I occasionally get some in wheat fields when hunting early goose as well. I also look for pigeons, as the doves frequently feed in the same spots. Really large deciduous trees, especially old/dead ones seem to hold them for some reason. So if you find silage fields but the birds are not out, they are likely in the trees...or sitting on the darn hydro wires at the edge of the road
