    Default New PAL is 60?

Just renewed my PAL. Not the easiest website to use and when did the new charge of $60 start?
So much for free! If the registry had continued I wonder how much each firearm registered would have cost??

I must have slept through the new fee announcement.

This happened some time ago. Harper era!

The fee was always supposed to be there but was waived when the law was first implemented to remove a barrier to getting your PAL.

I always like keeping money in my pocket but $60 over 5 years isn't as bad as it could be and cheaper than most of my hobbies.

FAC was 25 dollars in 1985 so just a bit more than double 33 years later.

Fair enough. Twelve bucks a year is a deal for sure.

If the registry had remained intact, the cash cow was going to be the fee for transferring a firearm which I recall was to be set at $25/ firearm.
