Good first outing

I went out tonight for my first deer bow hunt of the season.... No game shot at but it was a good night out regardless.... As I pull into the back of the farm I see a doe and two fawns in the bean field. i think good, deer are moving after all this rain, just as I hoped.....

So I get changed, grab my bow, make my way into the bush. I setup and begin my slow walk (still hunting) through the bush. I go about 60 yds or so before I hear my first deer of the season snort at me... I had the wind in my favour but it must have seen me, lots of leaves still in the bush.

I keep still hunting but decide to climb a hill to check out another been field way in the back of the property. I make my way to the back of this bean field, look down into the swampy section of the field and low and behold two nice bucks, fighting, playing with each other. Now looking through the trees I can tell they are pretty good bucks just can't tell how big they are but they have some good antlers. I try and sneak up on them only to get about 80yds from them before the wind changes direction... deer don't run off but walk back into the bush. I wait around a while but with a bad wind and loosing light fast I make my way back to the truck by the end of legal light.....

So all in all I seen 5 deer and got busted (snorted) by one... A very good 45 minute hunt....

Was out yesterday for the day with some guys we hunt with. Not much action, or visible tracks ATM. Lots of leaves on the ground and you can see their trails. Anyways after the morning sit I go back to camp. Go to an old apple tree and grab a few bags of them. At camp I cut them up and mix it with some apple flavoured buck jam. Before the afternoon hunt started I put them out and set the camera up facing it about 15-20 yards from me. I get a text from my buddy saying there are fresh tracks on the trail that weren't there this morning. Single set of tracks good size he says. I think alright that's good they clearly moved when we went back in in the morning. The evening hunt came and went again was quite. Back up all weekend though with the guys to my farm. Hopefully deer are back on camera like they've been all summer and had some of my apple goodness I made.

Bumped a doe on the way in...lol
Nothing came by the stand.
I put a good friend in a premo spot & he had 5 doe's all around him but the grass was to tall for a shot.
To be honest I didn't want to blow my one additional archery seal yet so it ended how I wanted it to...lol

First sit this morning for me, was great to be back in a tree, albeit a quiet sit with no action.

I saw a couple young bucks sparing this morning as well. Pretty entertaining to see. I also saw a flock of hens and polts at one end of the field and Toms on the other. Feels great to be back in the woods. Good luck to everyone this weekend.

I made it out as well.was looking for a buck but a huge tom Turkey showed up. 30 yards shot with the Excalibur grizz. Perfect hit .He went 25 yards and died. 11.5 inch beard and inch and three quarters spurs. 23lbs.
Wish I could post pics with my phone.
. I shot him in the rain as he was heading back to the thick bush.he has been feeding across a bean field .
Don't be afraid to hunt in the rain.

Thanks for the reminder Dutch. I will be buying a fall wild turkey license in case one walks by while I'm bow hunting for deer...

Opening day I saw raccoon, rabbit, squirrels & chipmunk, coyote and a bear but no deer. I didn't get any pics of deer in last week leading up to the season either. A slow start is not anything new in my meager little patch, but I have seen a few decent bucks in this area over the years, so patient I will be. Just nice to get out.
