Your right Trimmer, biologist have found the Grizzly in Manitoba...
"The researchers documented polar bears, black bears, and grizzlies in Wapusk National Park on the west coast of Hudson Bay near Churchill, Man."

And yes they have been crossbreeding...
After what appeared to be another grizzly-polar hybrid bear was killed in Nunavut last week, scientists are continuing the debate over what this means for the future of polar bears in an era of climate change.
Polar and grizzly bears have been mating across the circumpolar Arctic for thousands of years, says University of Alberta bear biologist Andrew Derocher.

SW Ontario was part of their historical range, things are going back to what they once were.

When you google Historic Range of Grizzly Bears, they were no where near SW Ontario.

There are certainly grizzly bears on the western shores of Hudson Bay. I was hunting caribou there about 2003 when an american hunter in our camp shot what he thought was a black bear outside camp. It was a grizzly, and there were charges laid as a result.

Very sad indeed.
You can bet if I lived there I wouldn't step foot outside with-out my firearm.

I have a friend who was stationed at Churchill with the RCMP. They didn't go anywhere without a heavy rifle. Their service weapon wouldn't come close to being useful against a Polar or Griz. He said Blackies had quite the attitude, also.
