Check the obvious first. Was the transducer still pointing downward after you adjusted its depth?

I have a Hook 5 that would lose bottom if I moved quickly then it couldn't seem to find it. I had to reboot the unit to restore depth and even that didn't work at time. Lowrance suggested I make sure the unit is setup with the correct transducer in its settings. Didn't help.

I fiddled with the transducer and that did help. Finally my battery died about a year later and after replacing the battery I've never had the problem again. Can't be a coincidence.

See if your transducer line is close to your main power line on your boat coming from your engine.... may be causing interference. Happened to me on my boat. There is a piece of rubber that hummingbird provides that corrects the rooster tail you are experiencing when boating.
