As long as you had a good time, its all worth it.

As long as it was a good time. My son and I still have not gotten one. We have seen many Hens and only one Tom but Logan didn't get a shot off. Will get out probably 2 more times so it's still possible.

Sat out in the property next to my cottage two weeks ago.
Called with the slate call, and had a ton of replies. Finally had a hen come in, with the tome and another hen just behind her.
She saw something she didn't like, and I got busted about 10 seconds before I could have had a shot lined up on the Tom.
Frustrating, but always totally worth it!

Tag soup comes with the territory when you embark upon any hunt.
I have a large wooden door that holds my hunting stuff. Since the MNR issued self adhesive tags years and years ago I have stuck the unused tags on the door. Moose, deer and turkey. I call it my Wall of Shame. The door is pretty much covered but it has never nor will ever deter me from getting out there. (of course tags are no longer produced the same way so I haven't been able to add to it ..lol)
I reiterate the point every time with my son, who is new at it.

My first season and I'm pretty happy with what I learned, didn't get anything for my efforts but I have a greater appreciation for those hunters who got one for the hard work.

It was great season and I'm grateful to have spent time in the woods!

That's strange. Cut my teeth hunting in Oxford years back.
Always lots of birds around, but didn't always get one !!!
