Best buddy and companion gone
Had to put Charlie down last Tuesday, he stopped eating and was wasting away to skin and bones. vet thought it was cancer. The vet and I hugged each other and cried, she really liked him too. He would have been 12 in november.I have tried to do this post twice before and haven't been able to complete it. Even now I' m having an extremely difficult time. I still see him every where. I still put my hand down to scratch him as he was always beside me if i stopped he would be there for a scratch. Tuesday was the worst day of my life. I had to take the rest of the week off work. I will miss him so much.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our 10 yr old choc lab last December. We now have another one. We still miss old Cooper, but the pup helped a lot.

Someone up above messed up when they did the math to figure how long a dog can live. I've been through your loss three times now and it always amazes me how badly it has affected me. I've lost a piece of my heart each time it's happened. It feels like my soul has been ripped out. I sometimes feel guilty when I realize that the loss of my dog has hit me harder than the loss of any human who's passed through my life. I remember someone once saying that you're a fortunate soul if you're lucky enough to have known one truly great dog in your life. Consider yourself one of those fortunate because it sounds like you had one. My heart goes out to you. Remember that you gave him a great life and the world was a better place having him as your companion. As crazy as it seems right now, I hope you're capable of doing this again. Life is missing a big chunk without having a dog under you foot. Every one of them is unique and truly amazing. Unconditional love and friendship. So sorry for you loss.
Dave

Always a tough situation, leaving a void in the heart. My 4 legged buddy, before the one we have now, was also around 12 when he went. I had his grave already dug as it was a foregone conclusion but it still hit like a sledge.

So sorry to hear of your loss, losing a dog is one of the hardest things someone can go through. As the time passes you will start to feel better.

Sorry to hear, sabmgb. Dogs are just a kid with fur. It'll take a long time, but,it will get better. There's a poem called The Rainbow Bridge. When we lost our best four legged friend,we got great comfort from it. We still miss her every day after 10 years.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

We are never prepared to say goodbye to our little buddies. My male is only 9 but I’m already starting to worry about that very thing. My condolences.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Thank you all, I should not have read the replies, at least at work. Has brought it all back. You have said many thinks here that will help with time. Dave that was a great post. So hard to leave for work this morning, without him sitting there for his goodbye pet with his sad eyes, wanting me to stay.
