3X on my Marlin, 4X on my savage .30-30 and .250-3000.
    Generally I prefer a 3-9 variable.

Fixed x6 on my 6.5 x 55 Swede...went that way becasue of the limited space for the safety lever. Worked out great had it on for many years of successful deer hunting.

Had a 4 power on my .243 for years ...when that scope bit the dust I switched to a 3 by 9 ....makes me think I should take the old girl out for a walk ,

I prefer a lower power. 1.5 or 2x is ideal for my circumstances
