Fast 3 Man limit of Geese
A friend I mentored in the spring for a Wild Turkey hunt invited me and another friend to hunt a grain field near his house. This morning we were in the field by 5:45 am and set up a nice mix of Big Al silhouette decoys , full bodies and shells. We used my panel blind and set up at the edge of a bean field. Everything was in place by 6:30 and we had time for a coffee before legal shooting.
The lack of wind had the birds coming in from all different directions, with many birds coming into the field from behind us. The first flock of 3 came right along the edge of the field and we shot while they were behind us. 2 birds own out of 3 despite my friend having issues with his gun.
as the morning progressed we had birds landing right in the decoys. As I had shot 3 birds, I lent my shotgun to the friend with the malfunctioning gun. He was able to shoot his limit as well. The first shots were fired around 7 am and we were done by 8 am with 9 geese shot, a 3 man limit.
