SW Ontario 12pt
Woke up bright and early today, been watching the weather and today was the best day I was available. Second sit of the season, first was Oct 1 just for tradition sake. I setup in a crab apple tree, listening to apples falling around me, a few moments after daylight broke probably 745am in comes this guy from a brush path the deer in the area use as a main travel corridor. He was walking angled away from me, I had no shot if he maintained course. Gave him one soft grunt, he turned, stopped and stared for a minute then kept walking, but he turned enough to change his path which kept him parallel to my stand, I ranged him at 35-40 yards and decided to take the shot as he was distracted and his head was down. Double lung clean kill Excalibur Bulldog 400. After the shot he did a slow walk 30yards or so and laid down.
Interestingly I have had some history with this buck before and believe this is the same one I had grunted in 2 years back, so nice to see a familiar face.
Good luck to the rest of you this season!
