Walleye fishing tips for Kasshabog Lake

Lots of people like to catch pickerel but if the lake is too shallow there could be winter die off. The deep hole on your map looks good how ever. Light jigs and worms are a good approach at times.

I've found through the years that heavy jigs work much better because you know when you're right on bottom. On windy days or in a heavy current when your boat drifts a bit too fast those lighter jigs suspend. They have to be right on bottom to work properly so I now use 1/2 or 5/8 oz jigs only usually with a braid.
All I can say is to give it a try and see if it works for you.

Been away for awhile, busy dealing with personal stuff, Kasshabog does have walleye and have caught them spring summer and fall, all during daylight hours, going to say 99% have been worn harnesses either with worms or minnows, sure night fishing would up the chances but I have targeted them over weed flats and weed edges, also after a rain is a good time to go, certainly not going to go out and catch 10 a day but they are there, was on the Lake for 30 years and now camp or rent and there now 6 or 7 times a year. Tight Lines.

What area did you find them in? Deep weed edges? McDonald bay? Seems there are no fish there ��

They are spread out all over the lake, what is called the big part in deeper water, certainly anywhere you find weeds, its putting in the time and as others have said, maybe try fishing at night, also check out where the ice huts are in the winter time and should help you figure out some spots to fish in the spring, I have caught them anywhere from 5' of water into 30' of water. if you are going to use harnesses get some with bigger blades and I have had success with bright colors as well as Purples and Blues. 2 years ago I caught 4 different year classes in 1 week of holidays so they are spawning.

I guess trolling with a worm harness and bottom bouncer of about 1.5oz and a spinner with a couple of perch coloured beads might be worth a shot. I’ve never really trolled, aside from a few forums �� (not this one)

me set for 90% of my harness fishing on kasshabog is a 3/8 oz bullet sinker, a bead and then tie on a swivel then harness, I found the bottom bouncers catch up on the weeds to much and the bullet sinker lets it come through the weeds better, for the deeper water on Kosh I do use a bottom bouncer. I find trolling lets me cover more water and they sure seem to love a harness and worm. hope this info has helped and hope you find the walleye next spring or even this winter if you ice fish for them.

Fish where the huts are. I went last year and caught one with a clipped fin and a rapala in its throat.

Where are the huts? I don’t usually go up in the winter. Is that in the middle part (big part)? I’m on bass bay ��
