Default March 14th my closer on simcoe

Well I thought it was a closer weekend the lake was baron early Saturday morning. Had the entire area to ourselves I hear there are plany more people out today. Around 9am Saturday other people started to venture out about a dozen people showed up some even bringing back out the perm huts and riding on atvs .

The day started early with 3 board members from the simcoe board meeting up at 630 am. Dave aka tip up ,pat aka red beard and myself.
We shot the chit for a few minutes then packed up and headed out for our long walk . This would be my first time fishing this area this year but I am definitely not a stranger to this area. It's been my go to spot for many year and many board members have been taken there over the years. It's a spot we always catch fish just some days are harder than others, well that's fishin for ya. It started out fast and furious within 10 minutes I had the first whitefish landed then pat got the next moments later and the cycle continued. We continue to all catch some fish and we are thinking its going to be a banner day. Well that was short lived. Before 9 we had iced 7 whitties 930 we had 8 then it just died lol. So many close double headers but never 2 on the same time. Maybe within a minute of each other but never the same time. We were close once but no double headers.

We made a small area swiss cheese and bounced around from hole to hole connecting the odd fish. It was another great day to finish off the whitefish season.
By 230 when I had to leave we were in the mid teens of whitties on the ice . I lost 3 fish one was definitely my fault , already had a few iced and this whittie started to fight hard after it was in the hole. It's like it kicked into overdrive once it saw the light. Anyway it scrapped hard I said you ain't going anywhere my line is stretching and plinging as it scrapes the ice I just held the line tight and continued to pull this fish back up the hole as hard as I could then the hook caught the ice and gone lol.

The amount of times I set the hook was crazy definitely set the over a dozen times just to have nothing at the end of the line. Multiple fish hit more than once at least 4 fish landed was connected on the 3rd hit lol.

When it was time for me to go pat stayed behind ,he was on a mission and it it was a great mission to accomplish. A weekend warrior connecting with his 100th whittie of the season. Wow what a great season he has had. Dave walked halfway back with me he wanted to try at some perch for a little while guess he didnt fish them long . Got a text from pat half way home saying he connected with his 100th fish well done Buddy [emoji106].

Hopefully everyone out today is having a blast on the last day of the season. I know pat and his wife had landed another 10 fish by 10 am this morning at another location we dont always fish the same spots. Fish are everywhere dont need to continue fishing the same spots. Will be out perching in the morning with another board member CHP. And hopefully I get another chance mid week

Here are a few pics of the day. Again it was another great closer weekend until next January I will miss you my little whitefish freinds lol.

The first pic is the wind that wanted to blow my flopping fish to shore lol. Second is Pat's little guy he released. Then our home made live well lol. And the group catch dave took the picture so he is the camera man lol. Thanks dave [emoji106]
