Cold Bore
This came through one of my U.S. military feeds on FB. I know there are members here who are in to sport shooting as much as hunting so I figured I'd just throw this out there. An interesting site. Cheers

Seems like a very verbose way of saying what anyone who spends any time on the range just knows. Especially black powder shooters.
A clean barrel + first shot, is almost always a flyer. A fouled barrel first shot is usually pretty close to warm barrel tight group POA...opening up more as the barrel gets hotter.
Most shooters go hunting with a 'dirty' barrel. The 1st shoot is the only one that counts.
He is right, if your first shot with a 'cold' fouled barrel can be a fixed known and accommodated for, it will make you a better shooter
I did like the terminology: " Sniper simply means your paid occupation is to end bad guy behavior kinetically through the incorporation of precision shooting "

I agree I always hunt with a fouled barrel. Yet at the range a freshly cleaned barrel has never been more than an inch or two off at a hundred yards with any of my rifles including muzzleloader.

I agree.
All my rifles behave differently with a cold bore as well. My Ruger M77 Hawkey 300 win mag shows no sign of inconsistency. My Xbolt 30-06 always shoots two inches left and an inch or two low on the first cold bore shot. I don't really clean my barrels often either with a brush. I usually run a damp patch through them to remove any powder, but beyond that I leave it.
My buddy I shoot with scrubs the life out of his barrel after every range day and he cant figure out why he is all over the map for the first 5 or so shots. I try to explain to him but deaf ears.
I find the opposite to be true with shotgun sabots. Clean clean clean means consistent accuracy.
Things that fly turn me on
