1st sightings
Saw my first 3 broods of mallards ducking's today on a walk along a creek. First had 6 duckling's, next had 3 and were a bit bigger and the last had 7 ducklings. To me this is early, wonder if they will get a second hatch this year.

I've been keeping an eye on a couple spots nearby, nothing hatched yet but water level is perfect and plenty of mallards and Canada's on nests.

Have noticed a lot more duck boxes and hen houses out this year. Will only lead to more success for nesting waterfowl. Nesting conditions in the area seemed to be fairly decent in my neck of the woods. I think we should have a pretty good nesting season in Simcoe County.

Bumper crop of new geese in the Long Point area ! Not sure how marsh nesters made out due to high water/storms wreaking havoc on Long Point marshes. Even the muskrats got flooded out.
Good Luck & Good Hunting !

Out for a walk along the same creek and saw more ducklings, one group the size of golf balls and another about twice the size. So the ducks are on at least their second hatch. Should be a good year.
