Well I’ve had the farm for 22 years now and early this morning I got pics of my first bear!! Funny enough also a couple hours later I had deer come right in on the same path I guess to check it out?
Awesome! It's good to see the Black Bear population is healthy and rising and that their range is expanding. Conservation techniques that are being used in Ontario seem to be working well.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....
Not really, there are lots of bears in southern Ontario in the same areas as deer.
Unless there is an explosion of bears which will have an impact on fawns.
Hi Mark-where are You in gereal in 82A-there is open season up north in 82A in few municipalities for bear already-are You close to Owen Sound?
I hunt south portion of it.....just curious should i expect bear to walk by?
We occasionally have them at our camp. Camp is on the Saugeen between Flesherton and Durham. It's been 6 or 7 years since we have had one come through.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.
Thanx guys- i am from Flesherton about 20 km,and from Maxwell about 25 km,south,as the crow flies...........Maybe better to take a bear spray with me in the future(i do mostly, when have no firearm with me -more for coyotes?!but even when armed ,once out of two walks for a sit i am in dark, the firearm is in a case...........)
Any neighbors in the area keeping bees? Seem to attract them. I've heard a couple bee keepers in the area were given permission to shoot bears that were smashing their bee boxes. Been running trail cams for 15 years and no bears for me but there has been the odd sighting.
They have been giving the beekeepers trouble. Have to electric fence the bee yards. I have a few hives, keeping my fingers crossed. There was one in the area about 15 years ago, It must have moved on. old243
